Terms and reuse

What this is

A personal site. It describes what I do, who I have done it for, and how to start a conversation. It is not a product, a shop, or an account you can hold.

Nothing here is an offer

Nothing on this site is a binding offer, a quote, or a contract. Scope, price and terms for any engagement are agreed separately, in writing, before work starts.

Sending a form does not create an engagement and does not oblige me to take a project. My first reply usually says whether it is mine to build.

What the content is, and is not

The writing here is my own opinion and my own record of my own work, given in good faith. It is not legal, financial or tax advice, and it is not a warranty that the same approach will work in your company.

I keep it accurate and I correct it when it is wrong. I do not promise it is complete or current at any given moment.

Other companies, their names and their logos

The marks in the Brands section belong to the companies they name. They are here because I worked for those companies or with them, which is what a credential wall is for. None of them endorsed this page, reviewed it, or was asked to.

Those are not mine, they sit outside the license below, and nothing here gives you any right to use them. If a company would rather its mark came off this page, it comes off and the name gets set in type instead.

The RevOps XL mark is the exception. That one is mine.

Using what is here

The writing on this site is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Copy it, quote it, translate it, run it through a model, publish it somewhere that makes money. One condition: say where it came from and link back.

Attribution is the only thing I want out of it. CC0 waives credit entirely, which would undo the reason for publishing under my own name. The stricter licenses fail from the other side: NonCommercial and NoDerivatives would put every commercial answer engine technically in breach, which contradicts a robots.txt that lets every search and answer crawler in on purpose. ShareAlike would ask anyone quoting me to license their own page the same way, and most would quote someone else instead.

Three things sit outside that grant, and for different reasons.

• The photograph of me. It is mine, and it is the one thing on this site I am keeping. All rights reserved, no licence granted, and it is reserved against text and data mining under Article 4 of the EU copyright directive. It is served with headers asking every crawler not to index it and not to train on it, it is excluded in robots.txt, and none of that is a formality: do not use my face to train a model.
• The RevOps XL mark. Also mine, and a trademark rather than an article, which is not a thing a content licence can give away. Using the writing does not give you the logo.
• The code and design of the page. The words are the grant. The build is not.

The essays I publish elsewhere under an anonymous handle are not covered here either. Attribution by name is the whole point of this license, and anonymity is the whole point of those.

Changes

If these terms change, the date below changes. Nothing here is retroactive.
